Materials
We will ask you to send us the text and images you wish to feature on your website before we start work. Sources of imagery for the site can take the form of original artwork, photographs, clip art and animations.
But you haven't got time to write all that copy and take all those photographs and spend endless hours gathering all this information?
Not to worry, as anything you can send us to do with your business will be of use. For example, if you have an existing logo it will probably contain your corporate colours and help us to envisage a colour scheme for your website.
The chances are you have got some of these things already right under your nose:
- Adverts in yellow pages, newspapers, magazines
- Logos
- Business cards
- Flyers
- Photos of products, employees, premises
- Catalogues
- Products and services list
- Price list
- Newsletters
- Press releases
If you need images, here are some websites where you can get stock photography:
http://www.alamy.com/ royalty free and licensed stock photography
http://www.freeimages.co.uk/ free stock photos
http://www.stockphotography.co.uk/ affordable quality digital stock photos
http://www.image100.com/ royalty free images
If you cannot supply all the information at once we will be able to work around it, but please remember we will not be able to finish any web pages for which we do not have the relevant material.
Register a domain name
If you want to have your own website, you will need to choose a unique name for it. This is known as a domain name and needs to be registered with a domain name registration company. The name you choose is exclusive to your website in the same way a number plate is to a car.
Unfortunately domain names are being snapped up at a furious rate due to the increasing numbers of people wanting to have websites, so if you do not already have one, you may not get your domain name of choice.
But that's OK, you will just have to be inventive and come up with something else! We can help you find something suitable and if you wish, we will register your domain name for you on your behalf and ensure it is in your name.
Once your domain name is registered you will need to pay an annual or biannual fee to the domain registration company in order to keep it (unless you pay for several years at a time).
If you would like to purchase a domain name we recommend you visit Fasthosts, the UK's number 1 for domains.
If you already have a domain name registered we can arrange to have it configured to work with your website.
